Technical visit Thursday 25th October


7.00am - 20.00pm

The technical visit on Thursday will be a site visit to the Adelaide Depot and Driver training centre, in Belfast. Delegates will travel by train from Dun Laoghaire to Adelaide.

Delegates will have the option of travelling onwards to the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland in Whitehead, where they will have the opportunity to have a site visit to the museum and the workshop.

All delegates will meet up for lunch, after which delegates will be able to experience the world renowned Titanic Belfast Museum and explore the Titanic story in a fresh and insightful way.

We will all return to Dublin by train in the evening time.

Technical visit Friday 26th October


Option 1: LUAS Tram Operations, Dublin

8.00am - 16.00pm

The first optional technical visit on Friday 26th October 2018 will be a trip on the new LUAS line to the new Broombridge depot. Delegates that select this option will travel via coach to a LUAS line that will transport them directly to the Broombridge depot.

Here delegates will visit Transdev LUAS operations and LUAS tram maintenance area. After the technical visit delegates can explore Glasnevin Cemetery (https://www.glasnevinmuseum.ie/) . Once the tour is completed delegates will be transported back to the hotel. Refreshments will be provided on the day.

Option 2: Iarnród Éireann facilities at Portlaoise

8.00am - 17.00pm

The optional technical visit on Friday 26th October 2018 will be to two Iarnród Éireann engineering
facilities at Portlaoise. Delegates who select this option will travel by train from Dun Laoghaire to
Portloaise and en route may pass through the Phoenix Park tunnel, which was re opened for regular
passenger services in November 2016.

At Portlaoise, delegates will visit the Laois Traincare Depot, the principal facility for maintenance of
the IÉ Inter City Railcar fleet of 234 vehicles. They will also visit the Permanent Way depot which has a sleeper manufacturing plant and where materials for track renewals and maintenance on the IÉ network are prepared.
